劉禹錫，字夢得（西元七七二－八四二）。這首懷古詩是 劉禹錫 金陵五題中的第一首。石頭城曾經是六代王朝的都城，繁華熱鬧的情形可想而知。但是隨著 政治勢力的移轉，它的興盛繁榮也如過往雲煙，遺下的是一片寂靜荒蕪的樓臺宮室，只有那明月依舊，潮水依舊。詩人利用自然界的亙古不移，寫出人事的滄桑，極 為高明。
 
解釋
 
石頭城：今日的南京。
女牆：指城上的矮牆，即城垛。
 
語譯
 
依山而建的石頭城，依然在群山環繞中靜靜地矗立著。四周的景物和當年一樣沒有甚麼變化。
江潮依然日日夜夜拍打著這座古城的城牆，又寂寞地退了回去。
到了夜晚，由淮水東邊昇起的明月，還是當年的月亮。
夜深的時候，纔照過牆桓，照入這座空虛寂寞的古城。>
