A brief collection of my attempted English renditions of selected Chinese poems, both contemporary and classical. (Each original classical Chinese poem may be presented in both the traditional and simplified forms, followed by the English translation.) Comments and suggested amendments welcome. (But I may not have the time to respond to every comment.) I am a follower of Andrew W F Wong's excellent blog "Classical Chinese Poems in English".

Ting! DONG! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
A thoughtful and poetic 'Happy B-day dedication' in Chinese by 懶散人 "Lazy San Ren" (a k a "Lazy Lazy Piggy") to the sweet tender lady with a big heart, 祖安娜 • 班奈特 Joanna Bennet . (Tr. by Frank C Yue)
懶散人 : Me :
叮 Ting!
Ting! DONG!
Ting! DONG! Ting!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
To the daughter youngest
Come all the attention all day.
A smiling face 'pinkiest' --
Joyful harvest after toil.
All the light air breezy
And the clouds fleecy --
Your sweet dreams -– they won’t spoil.
The silent Dipper churns away
Far from the Milky Way.
Music dances in reverie --
You, it and I are one and free
In such a night eternal,
Cool with a sleepless song.
Ting! Ting!
咚 DONG!
。
(do you see n hear the visual audio images by 'lazy' and me?
-- night hawks music on the wing, enlightened n free! )
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
