Beneath the cold Moon shining,
The traveller is a-sighing.
The boat sways and the waves roll
As the wind blows in circles.
Floating down so slowly, slowly ever –
Red leaves from maples along the river!

Flying red cloud wild-geese are expelling
Above a cold wood in disarray;
While dark Night is here on her way,
Passing by are crows returning.
The grass withering, smoke fading –
Dew into pearls is gathering.
Lying before me: The free country 
                                              paths and roads,
And distant green hills where the 
                                     Autumn stream flows!
