  煙波湖上看閒鷗

  冬來獨釣寒江雪

  水國茫茫慣漫遊

In a wooden boat on the sea

I am floating free;

On the lake with waves misting,

In leisure the sea-gulls I'm watching.

Alone I go Winter angling

When on the river snow's falling;

The watery world seems endless,

I'm used to this roaming ceaseless.
