Above empty courtyard night Moon glowing

Above empty courtyard night Moon

glowing,

The cool breeze is a-blowing;

Boundless and bare, the clouds cold

Proudly stand above all the ice and snow.

Leaves have fallen in the maple forest

As the turtle-doves fly by;

In the slippery garden where insects cry

The bright pearls, born of dew, rest.

Pearls shiny, dew slippery,

Garden insects singing in harmony;

O’er the dove-woods, fly past birds more

and more.

Red maple leaves carpet the forest floor.

Teasing the Cold are ice and snowflakes

fair,

Beneath the clouds boundless and bare.

The cool breeze simply takes flight

From empty courtyard in the crescent

Moon night.
