“A Group of Mountains High

Surrounds A Single Eagle Fine

That’s So Small in the Dark-Blue Sky”

-- by 一老年人 “A Man of Advanced Years”

-- Translated by Frank C Yue

A group of mountains high

Surrounds a single eagle fine --

A mere speck in the dark-blue sky.

Tiny eagle in the blue sky

O’er the colourful rainbow flies;

Rainbow, straddling the sky and all,

Makes the eagle look dark and small.

High up the empty, dark-blue sky

A tiny, fine eagle does fly

Circles ‘round the group of mountains

high.
