《哥舒歌》 西鄙人
北斗七星高, 哥舒夜帶刀。
至今窺牧馬, 不敢過臨洮。
GE SHU GE: "The Song of Ge Shu"
-- by Xi Biren (? - ?)
-- Translated by FrankC Yue
The Dipper's seven stars hang in the sky high;
General Ge carries his sabre at night.
On our ranging horses the Huns still pry;
But they won't cross the border out of fright.
Translator's Note:
The Dipper here of course refers to The Big/Little Dipper, names of two constellations in the northern hemisphere, otherwise known as The Great/Little Bear, or The Plough, or Charles' Wain.
