Jade-censer breathes fragrant incense;
Candle weeps red tears without pretense,

Painted green eyebrows on the wane,
Temple hair fallen without fain.
So deep and dark the Night, it still drags on –
Quilt and pillow won't refrain the chill strong!

Pity the lonesome phoenix tree,
At third watch come cold rains and sleet –
Speechless: Separation woes recall'd --
Now from leaf to leaf fall,
One PLOP – plops one, plop all...
Dripping on empty steps outdoor – PITTER!
Dripping until the new day breaks – PATTER!

< 温庭筠（812？─870？）唐末诗人和词人。本名岐，字飞卿，太原祁（今山西祁县东南）人。温彦博 裔孙。富有天才，然恃才不羁，生活放浪，又好讥刺权贵，多犯忌讳，因薄其有才无行得罪宰相令狐绹，取憎于时，故屡举进士不第，长被乏抑，终生不得志。大中十三年（859），出为隋县尉。徐商镇襄阳，召为巡官，常与殷成式、韦蟾等唱和。后来，归江东，任方城尉。咸通七年（866），徐商知政事，用为国子助教，主持秋试，悯擢寒士。竟流落而终。

　　工诗，与李商隐齐名，时称「温李」，但成就不及李。温庭筠精通音律。其诗辞藻华丽，艳精致，内容多写闺情，仅少数作品对时政有所反映。其词艺术成就在晚唐诸词人之上，为「花间派」首要词人，对词的发展影响较大。然题材狭窄，多写妇女离愁别恨之作，简洁含蓄、情深意远，但伤之于柔弱秾艳。在词史上，温庭筠 与 韦庄 齐名，并称「温韦」。相传温庭筠文思敏捷，每入试，押官韵，八叉手而成八韵，所以也有「温八叉」之称。现存词六十余首。后人集有《温飞卿集》及《金奁集》。>
